NO HONOUR IN THE LAND

Late Same Locco Efe
In the 1970's indigenous music had little business with the youth.

Youth culture was connected to Nigerian music in the 80's. Thanks to Chris Okotie, Dizzy K, Majek, Alex O, Felix Liberty, etc

Grip got stronger in the 90's. Thanks to Blaccky, Mike Okri, Junior and Pretty,  Plantation boys, Remedies etc.
These guys gave a voice to young artists and delivered a whole new generation to musical entertainment.
Billions of naira 2day circulate in an atmosphere they enabled. Yet, not one of them have a single form of National recognition.

Majek Fashek
Daniel had to sell bread to keep his legacy, while Chris had to open a church and attempt to be president twice to be in today's news.

Mostly all underpaid and unrecognized, predecessors of the Range Rover driving, red carpet posing artist get nothing but the prefix of "veteran" to their names for the opportunities they created.

Insult on injury is giving awards of esteemed recognition right b4 their eyes to those who have done nothing but sail through a storm they quailed.

Late Sam Okwaraji- Pix of him slumping to death on the right
Late uncle Sam Loco Efe, only got mushroom recognition from small time organizations. Yes, Sam Loco. The same one who was stage bound to thrill the world @ Festac '77

Yet the Nollywood @ 20 event recognized Desmond Elliot with a Nollywood Legend award.
No disrespect to an obviously hard working young man but over 20yrs after 77 Desmond was still touching his dream of being a model for tantalizers and delta soap.

Too late, Uncle Sam is too gone to hear us say thank you but does Jayjay Okpocha have to join Sam Okparaji b4 he gets his props?

Why does Nnenna Nwabueze sound like the name of an ancient Ibo priestess while Tonto is @ the verge of making the list of influential Africans.

Something is wrong with this system. Respect, Recognition and Regard due.
